Amazon halts construction of new warehouses in Spain until 2024 - El Confidencial
MADRID, Sept 19 (Reuters) - Amazon.com Inc (AMZN.O) has suspended the development of new stockrooms in Spain until 2024, Spanish news site El Confidencial said on Monday, referring to unidentified organization sources.
El Confidencial said the U.S. web-based business monster told its suppliers and accomplices to "keep a watch out" as pandemic-driven internet shopping has dialed back.
Amazon said in a messaged proclamation to Reuters: "Our obligation to Spain remains."
"In 2022, we have opened new operations stations, Amazon New centers, and a coordinated factors community (in Spain)," the organization said, without expounding.
Amazon said in June it wanted to add 2,000 new positions in Spain in 2022, taking its all-out finance in the country to 20,000.
